ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Samy’s Camera is a local camera store that has been providing rentals for photographers and videographers, sells camera equipment to individuals and the pros in the industry, they provide classes through their photo school and has 5 locations: one in San Fransisco, Santa Barbara, and 3 in the Los Angeles Area. I designed their weekly ads produced for 6 local news papers, designs for local and national magazines, event posters and assets, marketing materials, digital assets and worked directly with brand representatives including: Canon, Nikon, Sony, Profoto and Fuji.

Ad Design

Samy’s Camera had different Ad buys that were placed in local Los Angeles and Santa Barbara magazines along with National magazines. I came up with design concepts based on the topic: used equipment, pro/film industry equipment, underwater photography or Samy’s Photo School.

Weekly News Paper Ads

On a weekly basis Samy’s Camera had Ads in LA Times, San Fransisco Chronicle, Orange County Register, Pasadena Weekly, Pasadena Star, and the Santa Barbara Independent. I tried to change up the ads based on events that were happening like football season, back to school and summer activities, I then worked with the product and marketing departments to figure out what cameras and equipment we would like to focus on in that weeks ad.

Visionary Forces Ad Design

Visionary Forces is a division of Samy’s Camera that caters to the entertainment industry. I created ads for them on a monthly basis to showcase their products in national magazines.

Samy’s Camera PhotoCon LA

In 2016 Samy’s Camera did their first ever PhotoCon Photo & Cinema Extravaganza to celebrate their 40 year anniversary. On this project I worked on everything for this weekend long event at The Reef in Downtown Los Angeles. I created the logo for the event which was then used for all of the assets for billboards, large exterior visuals, promotional assets, and shopping bags for the event.

PhotoCon LA Shirt Design

Two different shirt designs were needed for the event – one was for the general public to purchase or receive based on their purchases – and the other was created for the employees who were working the event.

PhotoCon LA Social Media

Creating social media assets for the event was a large part of our promotion for the PhotoCon LA weekend, below are some examples of the graphics.

A photo of the Los Angeles Times Newspaper wrap to promote the event.

Visual I created to promote 2 members of the LA Kings Ice Crew meet and greet.

A visual I created to promote all of the food trucks that were coming to the event.

Visual I created to promote 2 members of the LA Galaxy Star Squad meet and greet.

PhotoCon LA Website

The PhotoCon LA website was the first website I designed in WordPress. It consisted of 12 pages including the homepage, and was the main source that we advertised for customers to learn more information and purchase tickets.

PhotoCon LA Posters

Creating posters was how we promoted the event in all of our stores along with some locations of our third party locations. One was the general poster for the event and the other was to promote the film contest.
